Minutes of the PACT meeting
January 24th 2012
Chilham Parish Church
in the chair Chilham
PC Matt King PCSO Peter Willows Community Support Officer Peter Wead Chilham
Apologies: were received from Yvonne White, PC Lorayne Brown, and Martin Sabin P.C.S.O.
ACTION: Could Alan Millar CPC clarify which area of the reports the Parish Council is recording. Some local scams would usefully be reported, but there are some regional scams which might also come under the same heading.
Steve Darling, Traffic Engineer from Ashford Highway Depot had replied to our request for the 50mph sign in Branch Road to be placed nearer the A28 junction.
He said he has been able to reallocate a small amount of surplus funding towards some minor signing adjustments in Branch Road. The work will be implemented during this financial year and will constitute the following:
- Relocation of the Playground warning sign closer towards the village.
- Removing the existing 50 repeater sign and putting in a new and smaller 50 repeater sign further back from the 30mph speed limit gateway.
Alan Baker had also sent in copies of the correspondence he has had with Kent Highways about the problems facing the A28 and A252 junction when and if the Sawmill site is developed.
Generally it was felt that giving preference to the A28 might reduce the rat run in Branch Road, but the traffic would speed up.
ACTION: Speed monitoring to be continued in Branch Road as soon as we can reserve the equipment. It will be important to monitor again once the relocated signs are in place.
A reminder to PC Brown that Mountain Street Residents Action Group would appreciate some speed monitoring and will need her to identify an appropriate monitoring area.
No action on this yet. We need some suggestions on how to raise funds for this project.
Reports of dog fouling in the School Hill area.
Police report (sent in by PC Brown)
She was very pleased to report that Martin Sabin, our P.C.S.O has been given a date to join the Kent Police as a police constable. He will be replaced by another experienced P.C.S.O in the near future.
